BEARS ON THE ROAD

July 2024 marked a major milestone for us, as we officially founded Bears on the Road. What started as a shared passion for board games among close friends has now transformed into something much bigger—a company dedicated to designing and delivering games that spark creativity, strategy, and joy. Our journey to becoming an official company wasn’t an overnight decision; it’s the result of years of playing, creating, and dreaming up ideas that we are now bringing to life.

We founded Bears on the Road with four core values in mind: replayability, elegance, completeness, and sustainability. Each game we design is shaped by these principles, ensuring that every project is not only fun to play but thoughtfully crafted.

The name Bears on the Road is a playful nod to the Dutch saying “Beren op de Weg” (bears on the road), which refers to obstacles or challenges. As game developers, we often see “bears” (hurdles) on the road ahead. Founding this company marked the first hurdle we overcame, setting us on the path to bringing our vision to life.

The cover photo of this post captures us in the moment of celebration, just minutes after officially founding Bears on the Road. In a burst of inspiration, we had already come up with another game concept—a reminder that creativity and new ideas can strike at any moment.
